| JIMI HENDRIX - In some magazins he´s mentioned as the worlds best guitarist ever | | So I know there are some discussions about him here but let´s really discuss about that person. I allways remember back when listening him the first time in the movie documention about the Woodstock-festival in 1969. Specialy at the end of his set he plays a mellow minor bluesy tune called Villanova Junction which I never get out of my head. It belongs to the a few improvisations that have touched me so deeply. Besides I know a lot people don´t know that he also was a great blues player as heard in some of his compositions like for example Red House Blues or his version from Bleeding Heart by Elmore James. He was not only a great composer also his lyrics had a strong message. Though Hendrix wasn´t political active he made comments on the Black Panthers in tv shows also that he had given contributions to them. I read up that he was put on the safety index from the FBI and his death is still under a veil. So what do you know do you have some secret facts to share? what´s so unique on him? which group line up do you like the most? did someone here see him at woodstock?

| | Jimi Hendrix and Jerry Lee Lewis question (see below) | | A few years ago I heard or read somewhere that Jimi Hendrix met Jerry Lee Lewis at an airport. Jimi put out his hand for Jerry to shake, but Jerry refused to shake the hand of a black man.
Although I love Jerry Lee Lewis's music, I've never bought one of his albums because of this. I don't like bigots. I know Jerry Lee Lewis isn't a particularly nice person, but refusing to shake the hand of the great Jimi Hendrix is just unforgivable.Anyway, does anyone know if this story is true? | |
