myLot Discussions | | How do you spend your evenings? | | Most of my week days are long. I would get back home from my office around 6 or 7 pm. So, I need the evenings to really relax. My favorite way of relaxing is listening to classical music, Mozart, Brahms, Bach, Tchaikovsky, Verdi.
How do you spend your evenings? What is your favorite way?
| | What are some of your favorite bands/Artists? | | There are a lot of bands I like. My life time favorties have been Smashing Pumpkins, NIN, Tool, Radiohead and Nirvana. I think being so fond of SP in my pre teen and teens years, assisted in my concepts of love and relationships. Nails, Tool and Radiohead in some of the angst.
Lately I have been listening to a lot of NOFX, Depeche Mode (or Dave Gahan) and Ghostland Observatory. Underworld, Aphex Twin, STP, APC, Massive Attack, Iggy Pop, Rasputina, Tchaikovsky and Orbital are just a few others that we enjoy often. Aphex Twin, Massive Attack, Orbital and even Rasputina have influenced what I make when I make electronic music for my enjoyment. What are your favorite bands and artists? In what ways have they inspired you in your life?

| | Concert was Spectacular! | | Hi You All wonderful friends,
Thanks for the warm wishes. Yes, the concert went spectacularly! It was much longer than expected with continuing applause and cheers from the crowd. Here was the program:
- Overture to the Wasps (Veughan Willaims)
- Piano Concerto No. 3 (Tchaikovsky)
- Suite of 3 Pieces: Pan & Syrinx, At the Bier of the Young Artist, Helius (Nielsen). I love the Wasp piece the most. All pieces are not well known pieces at all, but beautiful! And we found out further information about our amazing, and renowned soloist, Mr. Meng-Chieh Liu, on the piano. He is an amazing survivor who suffered from major health setbacks, that caused him to be paralyzed in the hospital, expected not to make it, and never to play the piano again. After 2 years and endless surgery (metal in the fingers), and distorted fingers, he has risen, and performs around the world with lightning fast fingers. He did along encore, and standing ovation. The concert went for almost 3 hours (expected was 2)! Well, I flopped into bed, and slept for almost 11 hours! (Including the bothersome time change mixing up my schedule.);o)Thanks guys. Wish you all heard it. I gave teh...
| | I'm playing in a concert tomorrow night! | | Hi Friends,
Just wanted to let you know that I am playing in a symphony orchestra tomorrow night. Very big hall, which fits a few thousand. And it is a very challenging, but great program. We also have a very talented piano soloist performing in one of the pieces (Tchaikovsky concerto). I play violin, and am playing in the Violin 1 section. It should be great, but it's knocking me out a bit still. This week with 3 three hour rehearsals (including tomorrow!), and then the concert in the evening. Any of you go to classical concerts?:o)
| | Putin, time's person of the year | | http://www.time.com/time/specials/2007/personoftheyear/article/1,28804,1690753_1690757_1690766,00.html?cnn=yesWhile I see this person as a person who may be deserving to be 'person of the year', I am pretty sure there are many more that are qualified as well. But the article gives us a glimpse into how the Russian president is a person as well>Putin grudgingly reveals a few personal details between intermittent bites of food: He relaxes, he says, by listening to classical composers like Brahms, Mozart, Tchaikovsky. His favorite Beatles song is Yesterday. He has never sent an e-mail in his life. And while he grew up in an officially atheist country, he is a believer and often reads from a Bible that he keeps on his state plane. He is impatient to the point of rudeness with small talk, and he is in complete control of his own message. What gets Putin agitated—and he was frequently agitated during our talk—is his perception that Americans are out to interfere... | |
